About
Rosary Sonnets
A sonnet for each mystery of the Rosary, to accompany contemplation and prayer.
The Annunciation of the Lord
Announced for all, in presence of just two.
The Visitation
Remit forevermore to God's esteemed.
The Nativity of Jesus
In humble spirit, sings a final psalm;
The Presentation of the Lord
Shekinah, hail! Uniting God to place
The Disputation of the Doctors
A journey three days in the desert there,
The Baptism of Christ
Upon repentant heads for righteous sake.
The Manifestation at Cana
Of higher things to come as shown in these
The Proclaiming the Kingdom
Great authority calls, so heed their knock,
The Transfiguration
Both had seen the summit, though changed in name;
The Institution of the Eucharist
And we the thousands sat upon the grass.
The Agony in the Garden
The Father heard the Son's belabored breath
The Flagellation of Christ
And the pain shockwaves are a timeless tear
The Crowning with Thorns
And bear the diadem of Adam's curse;
The Procession to Calvary
Golgotha gazed with empty pits besides,
The Crucifixion
Thy will be done, indeed, it is complete,
The Resurrection
Apollyon chained, bearing captive the grave.
The Ascension
Glory will rise away but never fade,
The Pentecost
The sacred day of wind, the Pentecost . . .
The Assumption of Mary
Ascending petal-pelted glory's heart!
The Coronation
Remember me, mother, when you are crowned.
