The Call of Heaven

There’s a time and season for all it is we do
O fratello, now Heaven calls out for you

Dark air, as cold as the grave
Kept insulated in a burial cave
To conjure a smile, would it be too much
To ask for something as simple as touch
A lovingkindness not known since the womb
I see light at the mouth of my tomb

My joints are all locked but I can still walk
I feel my mouth moving but can’t hear myself talk
I follow the light, it’s all I observe
It’s what I need but do not deserve

Yes, fratello, your sisters will make history
But only you shall know the final mystery
What happens when Heaven beckons the dead
To pass through Hell and be risen again

I will not describe the things you saw there
I only know it’s a burden you bear
Blood in your beard, smoke in your nose
The stench of death still in your clothes
The cold grasp of Hell will always remain
The chapel of memories has its stain
A scorch-mark to remind you, fratello
That the Gates of Heaven are narrow

The Call of Heaven
One sign among seven
For everything a time and season
You see the power, you see the reason
So, fratello, come forth and be loosed
And share what your faith has produced

All I request from you, fratello
Is that you do not stay, you must go
Follow the Law, and follow Me
You will not return here to Bethany
They will seek the life you’ve only received
It is because they have been deceived
Evil will call this condition slavery
Yet it is obvious, everyone can see
The Law removes the cloth from your face
But only I can move the stone from its place

The Call of Heaven
Your eyes are in pain when you look at the light
Because it destroys the darkness in your sight
Be exceedingly glad among the winds of the sea
That will pass from the East to pass over Me

Though the Day shall come, fratello
That I take all of the souls to winnow
Now is your time, your season to be
So follow the Law, and follow Me
