10 Jun Power’s Keys

The one to sit upon the jackal’s throne
Earns his place in bitter rivalry
To loose arrows made of ivory
Until he is the last to stand alone
And he is given Power’s Keys
Heavy brass in high quantities
Keys to open any locked doors;
Chests made of gold and metaphors;
Silver storehouses containing within
Chariots of iron and horses of tin;
Power can open anything, indeed
But in time he’ll lose, at alarming speed,
Into the hands of all his enemies
One by one, Power’s Keys
And no shield nor arms locked away
Will ever be able to stop in its tracks
Enough jackals with enough attacks
The things that Power unlocks every day
Are the ivory arrows that will come for him
The chariots of iron and the horses of tin
