10 Jan A Timeless Tear (The Flagellation of Christ)
Have you beheld the pillar, resolute,
And wield an instrument of Passion, still?
You scourge the Lord, frozen in place and mute;
Unseen, the angels pigeage Passion’s fill.
The lashes sting the all-eternal One
And the pain shockwaves are a timeless tear
Upon the Lord who bears the wounds the Son
Endured and bears forever, everywhere.
I suffered once, and God has suffered all,
He suffered standing, suffered once He fell,
His blood had disappeared, where did it fall —
It must have trickled down and flooded Hell.
He locked His gaze, anticipating sighs
For every blow, and never left my eyes.
