We The Thousands (The Institution of the Eucharist)

Who joined the Last Supper of Christ,
But all the faithful Jesus calls to Mass?
The Twelve seated beside the Sacrificed,
And we the thousands sat upon the grass.

The Lord of Hosts consents to wash our feet,
For now we step onto a holy ground:
An upper room prepared for us to eat;
Enthroned, the Son, the monstrance-crowned.

He lifts the grains he thread and broke the bread
And pours the bitter cup of watered-wine;
With tender touch, He blessed the gifts and said,
Allelujah, in these I dwell divine.

My time has come, but orphaned not you be;
In these adored you always will have Me.
