22 Oct Ave Maria – “Your Heart and Mine”
Angel, grant it to me to name our King
Hills of March spread apart on your wings
Where frost clings like a Child to my chest
The Name above every other name
That I can sing to put Him to rest
His cries filled the world with flames
Laid in my braids’ cascading tress
Loved for the rest of my life the same
When the Spirit left, I held the entire world
God is a word
And a verb in the strangest way
Where the Spirit rests, He traced a holy Word
God is a word
And all I have ever wanted to say
Joseph, what do you hear when I sing
On my tongue a note has rung and still rings
On my tongue a note has rung and still rings
That someday brings a Son you will hold
He looks up with a smile just for you
And loves you as you grow old
And He does all you used to do
In days too far away to again behold
Passing on horizons out of view
Jesus, come to Siloam’s bitter spring
I hear Your harp in my heart with hurt strings
It echoes everything like frightened sheep
And You groan in the swollen night
You can share all You still keep
I’ll embrace You as my Son, so tight
So I won’t let go as long as You weep
You hid a sword for me out of sight
And I have dreams You are still here with me
Your mouth moves but no sound ever comes
Your finger ignites and lights Your heart and mine
It beats like drums and burns like wine
Son, there is none more here You need
Who feeds all that a mother can give
I live and love for You, roses and reeds
But a day must come
When every mother leaves
And I give you my last rose
