The moon may stay throughout the day
But the proud sun never waits ’til night
And in fitting, in peculiar kind-of-way
I also wish to stay up and fight! —
O daughter Jairus’ among heaven’s Son,
Nameless to these but not everyone,
Hungry work is death and raising up:
Says those who drink of the blazing cup.
Mock Him not who busies working good
From unseen primordial sources seep:
Jairus’ daughter heard Awaken from sleep
And saw looming behind Him crosswise wood.
What the Son has shared with those He prepared
Lights paths in valley flood with lamphead Blood.
