20 Jun Wheresoever We Were, Was Eden
Just because you’ve been forgiven doesn’t mean you won’t be disciplined
We repeat our best mistakes and forget our worst disgrace
The type of man to test his luck will find a way to finally get stuck
He cannot see the trees in the forest for all their leaves
Even if things could get better, doesn’t mean they’re all that bad
And I learned the hard way that last goodbyes are never sad
Lurching forth with phantom hands, but I could not believe it
(Because I believed in something so beautiful I could never see it)
I need a teacher to be independent and to fight with food to be transcendent
And make up rules so I could live them, make enemies just to forgive them
Just because someone did what you’ve done doesn’t make your reasons one,
(Or just because a work shared a name, doesn’t mean the cause‘s the same)
If old meant timeless then we could stay in this moment another day, and stay discretely
If old meant timeless then we might be remembered rosily, and not completely
And if old meant timeless only then would I have an excuse to act cleverly
(Because I believed in things so beautiful that they could never be)
