09 Jan Moon Upon Zion

The moon, it reflects on the water and lights a golden path
Inviting me to walk it at every direction I see it.
El-roi-inspired eye,
A gilded moon on a starless sky
Shouts vengeance, vengeance! to one
Under the yoke of an absentee sun.
Tel-Gezer and her gates,
The longsuffering weighing weights:
Honest is honesty honestly done
Under the yoke of a pleasureless sun.
Via Maris opposite kings,
Alien nations and other things
Painted on the edge of holy gift
Where sand and sea as lovers shift.
Anathema unspun,
Lettered ultraviolet on Zion
From before the beloved were begun
Under the yoke of a shepherded sun.
Watch the sky. It watches you.
