I Saw Lightning Fall Like Satan

The prophet gathered stones, striking ancestral stars,
Loosing the blood of watered bulls to mock the moth.
Content he stood on Carmel laver, breaking jars,
Hating defiled cloth.

The hidden reefs a soul may shipwreck and be lost
But God alone may splash the shores and make it flame
As once by fire, once by quail and once by frost
On top of mountains came.

The waters run around the altar blood repaired
Whose claim to holy throne disaster falls to lights,
Until I pray wounded on sunken, ruby-haired
Underwater heights.
