Poison

Poison in the marrow
A man is like an arrow
If he ever strikes a sparrow, it’s
Because his archer kept it narrow
Had you heard Heaven spoke
A voice like the day-broke
Your poison has an antidote
Cut a branch from wild oak
If I cut your branch from the full vine
You’re still a branch by design, but
The branch and life are untwined
A branch can be cut in many ways
And only one way makes it stay
But that’s what no one wants to say
So it all gets squandered anyway
How do I get well?
You asked with no intent
To hear about the treatment
That is poison, that is venom
Physician, heal thyself
