Remember the Treasure-Taken Sea?

Under a not-so-foreign sun that we would first meet
Two ships come to harbor from a treasure-taken sea
I needed a reason for my heart to still beat, and
Well, I thought yours alone was enough for me
But now a third lifts up and fills its choir seat
Tuned to the melody of love, of God, our family
Now that is magic more than spinning gold from wheat
Spinning a me and a you into a one and a we
So when God decides that my life is complete
And I lay down my head (in old age, hopefully)
I will fight to wake, cannot, and admit defeat
That the choir remains with a thousand suns to see
And feel from their father’s arms in the heaven’s heat
That God was kinder to him than He ever had to be
So they love with abandon and find in sorrow, sweet
As singing steals your breath but it always sets you free
As I learned at once under that sun we would first meet
Two ships in our harbor from the treasure-taken sea
