16 Jul Though Changed in Name (The Transfiguration)
Moses chiseled in stone the word of God,
Led his people seeking divine command;
Joshua, though, received the iron rod
To still the sun and bind the promised land.
Elijah stood against apostate kings,
Raised the dead and called on heaven’s fire;
But still Elisha worked similar things,
As well anointing those the Lord desired.
Moses, Elijah – Law, Prophecy –
Illumined the promises God had willed;
Both were assumed before it came to be,
But raised successors whom would see fulfilled.
Both had seen the summit, though changed in name;
Had seen the Father share power the same.
